Erika Dreifus earned undergraduate and graduate degrees, including a PhD in history, from Harvard University. Her short-story collection Quiet Americans, which was named an American Library Association/Sophie Brody Medal Honor Title, was inspired in large part by the histories and experiences of her paternal grandparents, German Jews who fled Europe in the late 1930s and met and married in New York. Erika is also the author of Birthright: Poems. A fellow in the Sami Rohr Jewish Literary Institute, Erika teaches at Baruch College of The City University of New York. She lives in New York and can be found online at ErikaDreifus.com.
