True to the Leo Baeck Institute’s mission, most physicians, scientists, authors or advocates for peace that are represented here were Jews from German speaking lands, but there are also German Gentiles (for example Thomas Mann); non-German Jews (for example Shmuel Yosef Agnon) or those who were neither German speakers nor Jewish (for example Marie Curie).
