Dr. Anna Hájková is Associate Professor of Modern European Continental History, University of Warwick and the author of The Last Ghetto: An Everyday History of Theresienstadt (2020), the first in-depth, analytical history of a prisoner society during the Holocaust. Rather than depict the ghetto as an atomized state of exception, she argues that the prisoner societies in the Holocaust are best understood as existing among the many known versions of societies. In this lecture, she will discuss the key arguments of her book.
