Rolf Marbot founded the Éditions Méridian after 1938 in Paris. Rodolfo Hahn and Berhold Reisfeld assisted in the establishment of the publishing house, which specialized in easy listening music. After the Nazi occupation of France, Marbot went into hiding. His publishing house was later re-established as Nouvelles Éditions Méridian.
Marbot, who was also a lawyer and composer, was active in music publishing in Germany before 1933. In 1936, he founded Edition Staccato GmbH in Vienna.
