Leo Schidrowitz founded the Editora Leo Jeronimo Schidrowitz in Porto Alegre after his arrival there in 1938. He published many of his own books.
Schidrowitz had fled Austria after the Anschluss. He had worked in the publishing industry since the end of World War I, becoming manager of the Frisch & Co. Verlag in 1919. He founded a number of other publishing houses, including the Gloriette-Verlag (1920-1924).
