Josef Freudenthal founded the Transcontinental Music Publishers Corp. in New York in 1938. Transcontinental was the largest publisher of synagogue music in the United States.
Freudenthal immigrated to the United States in 1936. He initially worked as an agent for European and Jewish music publishers.
