Biographical/Historical Information

The historian Uriel Tal was born in Vienna, Austria in 1929. Teaching modern Jewish history, religion, and politics, Tal worked at Tel Aviv University and at the Oxford Centre for Postgraduate Hebrew Studies, and also lectured widely in the United States and Europe. At the age of 57 Uriel Tal decided to commit suicide during the festival of Shavuot in 1984.
