Biographical/Historical Information
Paula (Pauline) Beer-Hofmann, née Lissy was born in Vienna, Austria in 1879. In 1897, she married the author, dramatist, and poet, Richard Beer-Hofmann (1866 –1945), and the couple had three children, Miriam (later Lens, born 1897), Naëmah, (later Marlowe, born 1898), and Gabriel (aka G. S. Marlowe, born 1901). Paula and Richard Beer-Hofmann escaped Nazi-occupied Austria in 1938 with the intention to emigrate to the United States. They paused in Zürich, Switzerland, where Paula Beer-Hofmann died in 1939.
