Biographical/Historical Information

Yosef Hayim Yerushalmi (1932-2009) was Professor of Jewish History, Culture and Society at Columbia University from 1980 to 2008. One of his many books was a groundbreaking work on Sigmund Freud’s “Moses”: Judaism terminable and interminable / New Haven, Yale University Press, c1991 (LBI Library call # BS 580 M6 Y47 1991). Yerushalmi served as President of the Leo Baeck Institute when he worked on it, and subsequently he donated his vast research library for that book to the LBI.
