Biographical/Historical Information
Contrary to the assertion in the poster text, Germany's withdrawal from the League of Nations means a return to Germany's post-1918 isolation. The reannexation of the Saar region is not a success for Hitler; rather, the Treaty of Versailles provides for a vote in 1935. On the annexation of Austria, see poster V/14. The acquiescence of foreign governments encourages Hitler to annex more and more territories: Sudetenland (October 1938), Memelgebiet, and Czechoslovakia ("Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia") March 1939.
