Jewish Porter

Hermann Struck joined the German army in 1915. He served as a liaison officer with the Jewish population first of Lodz, later of occupied Lithuania and Belorussia. He was uniquely qualified to fill this position as an Orthodox Jew, and because of his previous philanthropic activities with the ?Committee for the East,? a German-Jewish aide organization for East-European Jewry. Struck immediately became a contributor to the Kownoer Zeitung [Kovno News] published by the administration of the German army. Its mission was to provide the troops with news, and with pro-German propaganda.
